A Circular Economy Partnership With BlockTexx
The need for environmental consciousness is imperative, and the dire requirement for sustainable practices is here to stay. With that, we are proud to announce that Coleman Group are the first to join the EEAA 2030 Sustainability Events Pledge, a collective commitment creating a sustainable future for events and exhibition industry.
To guarantee that we do our share for the environment, our industry must make strong shifts in operations. Through our collaboration with BlockTexx, a firm that recovers used textiles, Coleman Group has already taken the first step toward converting our discarded textiles into high-value raw materials that can be reused and therefore fostering a circular economy. Let’s dive right into what the EEAA 2030 Sustainable Events Pledge is and the joint efforts of Coleman Group and BlockTexx to develop a circular economy.
A Circular Economy
“A circular economy keeps materials, products, and services in circulation for as long as possible. It is a change to the model in which resources are mined, made into products, and then become waste. A circular economy reduces material use, redesigns materials, products, and services to be less resource intensive, and recaptures “waste” as a resource to manufacture new materials and products.” - United States Environmental Protection Agency.

Our Commitments
To better understand the mission behind the EEAA 2030 Sustainable Events Pledge, we must first understand what we are committing to. By signing the pledge, Coleman Group is committed to supporting EEAA sustainability initiatives and aspiring to meet targets as set out in the pledge stipulations, providing resources and time commitment across the organisation to support achieving goals and targets, participating in case studies, training programmes and pilot studies of supporting initiatives.
The pledge consists of 7 focal points that are accompanied by a thought-out set of goals for 2023 and 2025 that highlight our environmental impact, and they are:
Exhibitor waste
Attendee waste
Food and beverage
Staging, signage & promotions
Stand design
Logistics
Electronic equipment
Businesses have a duty to operate in alignment with the needs of the planet. Sustainable practices are forever necessary in all industries and the exhibitions and events industry is one that can easily make adjustments towards sustainability. In order to create a circular economy, we need to restructure the ways that we conduct business. Luckily for us, this is painless as there is a sustainable alternative to almost everything.
To be environmentally conscious is a good place to start, but to successfully achieve the goals within these areas is a great step forward. At Coleman Group, we strive to do our part in that respect daily. We are looking forward to witnessing the positive impact the EEAA 2030 Sustainable Events Pledge will have on the exhibitions and events industry over the coming years.
